The listening section of the OET evaluates your ability to comprehend spoken English in healthcare contexts. Here’s a concise breakdown of the OET listening section:

Format:

• The Listening section comprises three parts, each focusing on different healthcare scenarios.
• A total of 45 minutes is allotted to complete all three sections.

Types of Audio Texts:

Part A – Consultation Extract:

• Listen to an audio extract of a healthcare professional and patient interaction.
• Answer multiple-choice questions that assess your ability to understand specific information, such as diagnosis, treatment plans, or patient instructions.

Part B – Group Discussion:

• Listen to a group discussion among healthcare professionals.
• Respond to multiple-choice questions or fill in gaps in a summary related to the discussion.

Part C – Presentation:

• Listen to a presentation or lecture related to a healthcare topic.
• Answer multiple-choice questions that evaluate your grasp of the main ideas, details, and opinions presented in
• the audio.
